Rosemary Bryant

Meet Rosemary through her piece on Kindness.

Elaine Bachman

Elaine was born in Naarm and is slowing down in life, with plans to move to a regional seaside town as soon as she possibly can. She loves to travel, read and stare out at sea.

Cheryl Wilson

Writing stories may be a way of life or as an escape from real life. I enjoy inventing characters and placing them in surroundings once familiar to me – especially our inner northern suburbs during the seventies. I also write shorter pieces about real people who are closer to my heart.

Cheryl is sharing a three part story titled: A Boys World. Parts 1 & 2 found in this link. Part 3 to come.

Greg Gibson

In my working life as a Draftsman: Commercial kitchen consultants and building supervisor. I have 3 wonderful children and enjoy a close relationship with my siblings and families. Love reading. At present “more please”, an incredible biography of Barry Humphries. More in tune with factual rather than fiction. Hence the love of biographies. Happily retired and currently living in Warracknabeal ( birthplace of my father).

Athena Avlonitis

Athena Avlonitis is a Greek-Australian year 9 student at Santa Maria College with a burning passion for the arts and a dream of one day becoming a broadway star. She has a passion for all kinds of creative activities, from poetry and story-writing, to singing, dancing, painting/drawing. Athena loves being creative and finds inspiration in everything around her, especially in musical theatre. For her, creativity is a way to express herself and connect with others, and she believes it’s a perfect way to escape through reality whenever she needs a break. Athena has been dancing for over a decade, and it’s one of the ways she expresses herself best. She loves moving to music, choreographing, going to her dance classes and using dance to tell stories and show emotions. Besides dancing, she’s also a multi-instrumentalist, playing both the piano and the cello. Music is another way Athena connects with her emotions, and she enjoys playing instruments which help her relax especially on a rainy day. Through her poetry, Athena explores the struggles and challenges she’s faced in the past, using her writing to release difficult emotions. Writing has become a way for her to reflect on her experiences, with every poem serving as a reminder of how far she’s come. Each piece allows her to think’ “I went through that, and I’m still here growing, learning, and feeling better than ever” When Athena isn’t busy with her creative projects, she enjoys listening to her favourite singers like Melanie Martinez, Ariana Grande, and Sabrina Carpenter. She also loves spending time with her friends and loves them all grateful to have her friends in her life. Athena hopes that through her poetry and creative projects, she can connect with others who might share similar experiences. She believes that art, in all it’s forms, has the power to express, heal and inspire, and she hopes that her work encourages others to express their emotions and find joy in their own creativity

Sharni Miller

Sharni Miller is the proud owner of a creative writing degree and the not so proud owner of an egregious HECS debt. She writes mostly historical-ish and horror-ish pieces (including the debut novel she is currently working on, which is a bit of both). She also runs a substack blog @sharnimiller and is currently making the finishing touches on an australian horror podcast script that she hopes to record soon.

If you want to keep up to date with these projects, or if you want to read some old work, you can find her on Instagram @sharni_writes

Cathy Beesey

During those hot summer days Cathy Beeesey scrolled Pinterest and was inspired to write. You’ll find both posts from this link.

I also decided ro be brave. I’ve started posting my memoir chapter by chapter. The title: Grateful – Learning to live with an autoimmune disorder A mosaic of my journal. I do this with a sense of pride and fear. The first link takes you to the contents and Part 1 Chapters 1 – 4. The second link to Part 2 Chapters 5 & 6.

Each of these authors takes you to a space you couldn’t imagine. Sometimes for five minutes, others for twenty and everything in between.

This site is for those who want to read something with a difference.
